Lydia Cabrera Award to Carlos Alberto Montaner

The ArtesMiami Lydia Cabrera Award will be presented to the writer and journalist Carlos Alberto Montaner on Friday, April 19th in Coral Gables, Florida. The award recognizes a person who has made a significant contribution to the cultural development of South Florida. An internationally recognized author, Cuban-born Montaner is one of Miami's most admired journalists and leaders as well. Among his 25 books are best-selling novels such as "Otra vez adiós" (the most recent) and "La mujer del coronel." During the last 30 years dozens of daily newspapers in Spain, Latin America and the U.S. have published his weekly column. Poder Magazine estimates that six million people throughout the world read his articles.
