ArtesMiami launched new poetry book: CONVERGENCIA

June 07, 2016

Editorial Ultramar, the publishing division of ArtesMiami, Inc., has just published"Convergencia," a poetry book by Judit Arvesu, who arrived in Miami from Cuba in 2012. Persecuted by the Castro regime for defending human rights, Arvesu is a talented poet whose book has been praised by writer Regis Iglesias:

"These 60 poems condense the essence of the poet, in her direct and melancholic style, and the expression of a whole generation silenced for too long. They are a burst of desire, hope and desperation; they are love and darkness, but, above all, they are passion...they are honest and softly penetrating verses."

ArtesMiami president Dr. Aida Levitan and the book's editor, writer and poet Janisset Rivero, presented the book and a reading by Arvesu on Monday, June 6th at the Coral Gables Books and Books, before an audience of more than 50 cultural leaders, including the Consul General of SpainCandido Creis, and cultural columnist Olga Connor. TheLuyano Band played New Age music while the author read. "Convergencia" is available for sale at Books & Books, 265 Aragon Avenue, Coral Gables, for $15. Books & Books will donate a portion of the proceeds of the book to ArtesMiami and the organization, in turn, will donate its own proceeds from the sale of books to the poet.
