Heros, M.D. is a professor and co-chair of neurological surgery and residency program director at the University of Miami Medical School.  Ana Picaza is one of the pioneers of Miami Hispanic media, having created with Frank Soler a magazine called Miami Mensual in the 1970s.

Julián Linares and Dr. Aida Levitan interview Rodolfo Martínez Sotomayor, with the participation of poet-artist Rodrigo de la Luz.  Martínez-Sotomayor is the author of numerous books and is also a respected editor in South Florida.  Tres Damaturgos, Tres Generaciones is his newest book, on playwrights from three different generations:  Matías Montes Huidobro; José Abreu-Felippe; and Ernesto García.

This program features poet Rodrigo de la Luz, Curator Rene Morales & artist George Sanchez Calderon.  Cuban-American poet Rodrigo de la Luz has published four poetry books.  Curator Rene Morales has organized excellent art exhibitions at the Miami Art Museum.  George Sanchez Calderon is a local Cuban-American artist whose work has recently appeared in Bal Harbour and at the Miami Art Museum New Works exhibition.

Ileana Fuentes, writer, activist, professor and director of the Cuban Museum of Miami, is interviewed by Dr. Aida Levitan and Julián Linares.   Also participating in this program is poet and artist Rodrigo de la Luz, as well as Alex Fumero, producer, writer and actor, who discusses A Very Merry Hialeah (Haikus) Christmas, a show to be held December 22 at the CCEMiami (Spanish Cultural Center).

Hispanic Heritage – Fourth Program

This fourth HISPANIC HERITAGE program features an interview of Charo Moreno, psychologist and president of REM Comunicación, as well as Marco Antonio Ramos,  historian, essayist, cleric and professor, born in Matanzas, Cuba, who is the author of more than 15 books and numerous essays.  Luciano Suarez, Vice Mayor of West Miami, also participates in this program.

Hispanic Heritage – Third Program

This Hispanic Heritage program was dedicated to interviews with Commissioner Willy Gort, City of Miami, one of the pioneers of developing the Little Havana area, and with attorney Angel Castillo, the creator of El Nuevo Herald, the leading Spanish-language daily newspaper in the U.S.  Comm. Gort’s grandfather, Wifredo Gort, was one of the first Cuban-Americans to open a business in this area.  As a photographer, he was a regular at the leading events of Miami since the 50s.  Comm. Gort followed in his footsteps by establishing a successful business and later entering the world of politics.  He is also known for his leadership in the Hemispheric Congress of Latin Chambers of CAMACOL (the Latin Chamber of Commerce).

Angel Castillo is a prominent lawyer who became well-known for his contribution to creating El Nuevo Herald, the new version of El Miami Herald.  In addition, he is brilliant journalist and blogger.  Castillo was born in Cuba and is part of the generation of Cuban-Americans who grew up in the U.S. and have made a significant contribution to the development of South Florida.

Hispanic Heritage – Second Program

Hispanic Heritage always begins with a poem, written and read by poet Rodrigo de la Luz.  This second program features special guest Tobias Ostrander, Chief Curator of the Miami Art Museum, the leading art museum of Florida.  Ostrander talks about his curating philosophy and the Hispanic artists now represented at the Miami Art Museum, among other topics. From 2001 to 2009 he served as the curator of contemporary art at Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City, where he developed an extensive program of international artists.  Prior to his work in Mexico City, he served as associate curator for inSITE 2000, bi-national art project for San Diego, CA and Tijuana, Mexico.

A program dedicated to highlighting important characteristics of Hispanic culture and recognizing some of the leading Hispanics in South Florida.  This first program features an interview with Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen about Hispanics and their importance in the presidential election and poems by Miami writer-artist Rodrigo de la Luz.  Aida Levitan & Julian Linares also interview poet Rodrigo de la Luz about his new book La Luz que se Prolonga.
