Contradanza in “Cecilia Valdés” by Martí Productions and Florida Chamber Orchestra

On two occasions, 2023 and 2025, ArtesMiami was the Presenting Sponsor of the Marti Productions Cecilia Valdés, the legendary Cuban zarzuela (a Spanish opera genre), composed by Gonzalo Roig in the early 1930s, based on the 1839 novel by Cirilo Villaverde. This zarzuela premiered in Havana’s Marti Theater on March 26, 1932, and it has become a cultural icon of Cuba since then. Nearly 4,000 music lovers saw these productions at the Manuel Artime Theater and at the Moss Theater, respectively.


FACE Leadership Excellence Award to ArtesMiami President Aida Levitan

On November 20th, 2024, Facts About Cuban Exiles (FACE) presented the FACE Excellence Award for Leadership to Dr. Aida Levitan, founder and President of ArtesMiami, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to supporting and promoting Hispanic artists and cultural activities. Also honored were developer and philanthropist Jorge Perez; Frank del Rio, former President and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Lines, Regent Seven Seas and Oceania; and Sam Verdeja, co-founder of FACE and former Miami Herald top executive. More than 350 leaders attended the event, at which this biographical video was shown.

The Fair of Spain was a major project of ArtesMiami, Inc.

When ArtesMiami started in 1995 (under the name Hispanic Events, Inc.), its first project was the Fair of Seville in Miami, followed by the Fair of Spain in 1997. More than 270 artists from Spain and other countries performed and 40,000 consumers attended.

Cachao and Andy Garcia in Concert produced by Sanchez & Levitan

The internationally known Cuban musician and composer Cachao, creator of the mambo & Cuban jam session, was honored by Oscar-nominated actor Andy Garcia at a Miami concert in 1992, produced by Aida Levitan and Fausto Sanchez. Miami media covered the event and several TV news reports showing segments of the concert are featured in this video.
