Lydia Cabrera Award Presented to Luis de la Paz
ArtesMiami, a non-profit organization dedicated to the cultural development of Miami, will present the second Lydia Cabrera Award to journalist and writer Luis de la Paz, on April 9, during a reception at the residence of the president, Aida Levitan. The Rotary Club of Miami-Granada sponsors the presentation, under the leadership of president Octavio Ramos.
The Lydia Cabrera Award, inspired by the great Cuban writer (author of “El Monte” and numerous works on Afro-Cuban culture and religion), recognizes persons who have significantly contributed to the cultural development of Miami. The first award was presented to Gloria Leal, Deputy Editor of El Nuevo Herald. The awards event is open to all who want to contribute as Founders of ArtesMiami ($100 per couple). Space is limited so please reserve at info@artesmiami.org.
